At the beginning of 2001, Panda Group established a union with French Thales Group, one of the Top 500 enterprises in the world, and successfully provided Nanjing Metro with AFC system using contactless smart card as medium. The establishment of Nanjing Thales Panda Transportation System Co., Ltd. in Oct. 2003 marked a great progress of cooperation between them.
Thales Group holds 60% of the shares of Nanjing Thales Panda Transportation System Co., Ltd., with the remaining shares held by Nanjing Panda. Relying upon the world leading technology of Thales Group and Panda Group’s rich domestic manufacture experience and understanding of Chinese market, the company designs, installs and debugs contactless smart card AFC system for Chinese market. In addition, the company has gradually become the production center of Thales Group in Asia. Having originated in France, the technology development of the company goes through localized secondary development so that products manufactured by it in China are advanced and reliable.
In recent years, the company has made remarkable achievements in domestic and overseas market exploration. After the union successfully completed the AFC system of Nanjing Metro Line 1, the joint venture and LG of South Korea jointly won the bid for AFC system of Beijing Metro Line 1, Metro Line 2 and Batong Line in June, 2008. At present, it is also implementing AFC system design project of Taiwan Express Railway, reconstruction of old line of Taiwan Metro, New Delhi Metro of India and Bangkok Metro. Altogether, it is necessary to provide 1,876 automatic ticket vending machines and 3,768 gates. With advanced technology, the company will surely make outstanding contribution to development of rail transportation fare collection system in China and Asia.
