Panda Wins the Bid in Ningxia for Equipment Purchase Project of DBS(Direct-Broadcast Satellite) Public Service to Home
On Nov. 28, the bid of ground receiving equipment for DBS(Direct-Broadcast Satellite)-TV invited by the Ningxia Administration of Radio Film and Television was open. Panda, along with 7 other enterprises won the bid. Panda has acquired the order of 96,000 sets of ground receiving equipment for DBS-TV, with the bid amount up to 48 million RMB. The invitation of this tender also opened the prelude of DBS public service project implemented by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television.
At the beginning of this year, approved by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and organized by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television, a new service of DBS-TV started in China. The aim of which was to strengthen the role of DBS, extend TV coverage in rural areas, and solve the problem of no TV access for low income residents in rural areas. It is of great significance in not only enriching rural resident’s spiritual and cultural lives, but also ensuring people’s basic cultural rights. People within the scope of this service may voluntarily purchase receiving devices of DBS-TV-to-home to listen and watch programs from CCTV, China National Radio and local TV stations.

The winning bid of Ningxia DBS-TV-to-home project is the start of a DBS public service issued by Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Administration of Radio Film and Television. All the bid-winning enterprises must finish the production, installation and operation for 700,000 users in one month. The task is onerous with unprecedented difficulties. At present, giving up all vacation, the staffs of Digital Set-top box Technology Engineering Company have been busy with the production and equipment installation in order to lay a solid foundation for the development of DBS-TV-to-home for the following year.
