- It was deemed by the identification commission led by academician Zhang Guangyi of the National Academy of Engineering that the 42″ shadow mask full-color high definition plasma television’s research achievement has taken an international lead.
On April 29th, Nanjing Huaxian High Technology Co Ltd, a joint venture of which Panda is a member, held a meeting of its Jiangsu funded project concerning scientific and technical achievements. The meeting about the Industrialization of the Module Technology of 42 Shadow Mask Full-color High Definition PDP Television was held at the PDP production base of Huaxian.
Mr. Zhu Lifeng, Panda Vice-General Manager as well as the President and General Manager of Nanjing Huaxian High Technology Co Ltd, reported on the progress of the industrialization. Mr. Zhang Xiong, Vice-General Manager of NHHT, gave the research and test reports and other information. The members of the identification commission listened carefully, visited the pilot production line, and watched a demonstration of the shadow mask PDP television. The identification commission reached consensus that the research achievement of the 42″ Shadow Mask Type Full-color High Definition PDP Television had reached the international leading level. Taking the technique of shadow mask PDP display screen (SM-PDP) with completely independent intellectual property rights as the core, the project has made great breakthroughs in the crucial technical fields such as modular design, pilot production, and design and production of complete television, solving such technical problems as shadow mask tricolor fluorescent powder spraying, surface treatment, and metal and glass base-plate screen sealing and notably improving the overall performance of the product. According to the test, all performance indicators of the complete televisions conformed to the national standard for high definition televisions, thus laying a technical foundation for mass production. For the project, 97 patents including 57 invention patents have been applied for, and 27 patents have been granted, creating independent intellectual property rights. While finishing the pilot production, the project has also boosted the development of domestic such industries as manufacturing of relevant supporting materials and equipment of PDP, making a large contribution to the mass production and cost reduction of PDP televisions.
The members of identification commission all agreed on the project is qualified for international leading status. They further advised the company to speed up mass production and the establishment of a supply chain in order to reduce costs to a greater extent, and to launch the product as soon as possible. They also acknowledged the initial success of Huaxian in facilitating the shadow mask PDP technique’s industrialization in the last two years. |
