More than one hundred patent applications made by Panda last year

The awareness of protecting intellectual property rights is becoming stronger and stronger with the increasingly greater efforts Panda has made in independent innovation. Following increases over the last 5 years, the Groups patent applications of the Group has again hit a record high in 2006 to be over one hundred. This makes Panda the first state-owned enterprise of Nanjing to lodge over one hundred patent applications in a single year. In 2006, the Group had made 122 patent applications and was granted 95 patents by State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). Thanks to this, the Group was awarded by related provincial and municipal authorities the title of “Enterprise Excellence in Patent Work”.

As specified in its 11th Five-Year Plan, the Group must make great efforts to improve its ability for independent innovation, enhance its core competitiveness and facilitate the sustainable development. The unremitting work of related departments in the Group in patent issues has effectively enhanced the awareness of independent innovation and innovation protection of the researchers of the Group. The researchers are all conscious to take patent application and protection as part of their research work and made plentiful achievements. In 2006, the patent “Mobile Information Terminal for the Blind” applied for the Group was awarded with the gold prize of China International Patent & Brand Expo; and the Setting Method and Device for Intelligent Bookmark of Color TV was awarded with the silver prize of The 4th Outstanding Patent Project Awards of Jiangsu province.
